Bioenergy LLC developed a proprietary, energy-efficient, green and easy to maintain WiseSoil technology for biogas plants and wastewater treatment facilities. WiseSoil technology is implemented in two solutions: Feedstock Pretreatment Module and Effluent Dewatering System.

1. Feedstock Pretreatment Module

Flow-through biomass pretreatment module with 30m3/hour throughput

WiseSoil Feedstock Pretreatment Module (FPM) is a solution for increasing efficiency of biogas plants. Module is based on a proprietary technology, and can be installed as add-on before any digester. Anaerobic Digestion technology can be compared to digestive system, where FPM acts as teeth, chewing the food before it gets to the stomach. Module is compatible with any digester system, costs up to 5% of total plant cost and provides customer’s ROI of about 1.5 — 2 years.


WiseSoil technology integrates five pre-treatment functions in a high-efficient, compact pre-treatment module that carries out 5 pre-treatment functions on feedstock and can be attached easily to biogas digester feed lines.

Module disperses feedstock into small-size fractions, minimizes disruption of the bacterial environment inside the digester by deoxygenating, mechanical hygienisation and preheating of feedstock. The combination of all these processes makes feedstock highly reactive and most favorable for the reactor microflora environment, allowing for fast & full digestion that maximizes biogas yield. WiseSoil technology competitive advantage lies in a synergy of processes: it simultaneously accelerates waste digestion & increases biogas yield.

Pretreatment effect was verified for a various types of feedstock during laboratory tests, on WiseSoil biogas unit, and during three full-scale pilots, launched on biogas plants in 2014 and 2015.

Moreover, WiseSoil technology turns hard-to-acess substrates (i.e., manure with fibrous inclusions, straw, etc.) into an available and valuable resource for biogas plant. Comparison of biogas yield for straw before and after pretreatment:

The first pilot was performed in biogas plant in Orenburg, Russia. Pilot was launched on biogas plant, owned by a Komplesu LLC, in 21-23 September of 2014. Biogas plant UGB-25 is located at the site and has a throughput of 1.5 — 2 tons of feedstock per day. Plant uses food scraps and liquefied cow manure as a raw materials for digestion. Pilot included assessment of the efficiency of organic feedstock processing with WiseSoil pretreatment module, and a comparison of biogas yield from the UGB-25 biogas plant from initial and pretreated feedstock. The results are as follows:

Full-scale pilots showed WiseSoil module efficiency:

15th October - 1st December 2016, Biogas plant Boretice, Czech republic.

WiseSoil module was installed between 1st and 2nd digesters of biogas plant. Feedstock consisting of  mix of corn silage with manure with total solids content up to 12% was processed. As a result, methane yield was improved by up to 17%.

Full-scale pilot was performed first to fifth November 2015 in Kirov, and tenth to fifteenth November 2015 in Chelyabinsk.

As a result, manure with massive fibrous inclusions was turned into substrate for biogas plant, and biogas yield increased by 70-95%.

2. Non-thermal effluent dewatering system

WiseSoil effluent dewatering system increases efficiency of biogas plants by producing clean water and dry fertilizer instead of wet digestion products. This new low cost, energy-efficient, green and easy to maintain technology enables owners and operators of existing biogas facilities to avoid paying recycling fee for substrate, produced by biogas plant, and to produce dry organic fertilizer and safe to discharge and reuse water instead.


WiseSoil effluent dewatering system technology is based on conventional Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) technology. Addition of microbubble and ultrasonic generators to conventional DAF unit significantly decreased bubbles size and simultaneously increased bubbles lifetime, surface area and solubility. As a result, WiseSoil dewatering system removes suspended solids 2.5-4 more efficient, providing longer filters life.

Dewatering system produces a high quality organic fertilizer product with mineral content of 5% N, 5% P, 8% K, and 10+% Humic content (see table below). System processes excessive nitrogen contained in animal manure, thus solving the Nitrogen runoff problem. Moreover, system consumes only 100 kWh for drying of 1 ton of nutrients, recovered from raw product (compared to 2000 kWh if thermal drying is implemented).
